Doosan Corporation joined the UN Global Compact as of April 22, 2014. The UNGC is a United Nations initiative established in 2000 to encourage businesses around the world to align their operations and strategies with ten universally accepted principles in the areas of human rights, labor, environment and anti-corruption. Currently, there are approximately 10,000 UNGC members across 145 nations.
Celebrating its UNGC membership enrollment, Doosan Corporation Vice Chairman James Bemowski met with the UNGC Secretary-General Im Hong-jae on May 14 at Doosan Tower to receive the official membership certificate.
Vice Chairman Bemowski emphasized that “it is our basic duty to fulfill corporate social responsibilities as inscribed in the Doosan Way,” adding that “this membership allows us to internally and externally declare our strong commitment to fulfilling corporate social responsibility and we will exert further efforts to become a leading global CSR company.”
Doosan Corporation newly established its CSR Team last year to execute Group CSR strategic initiatives, as well as communicate with internal/external stakeholders. Earlier this year, the CSR Team organized a CSR Seminar for all leaders and employees working in Doosan offices to raise their CSR awareness. Furthermore, the CSR Team is currently planning various CSR activities that all leaders and employees can participate in.
